Financial Coverage of World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

  • Tuition Coverage: the scholarship pays for all tuition expenses for the complete length of the graduate program.
  • Monthly Subsistence Allowance: the scholarship provides a monthly stipend to cover living costs, which includes housing, meals, and educational materials, with the amount differing by host nation.
  • Medical Insurance: Basic medical insurance will be offered by the host university.
  • Economy Class Air Travel: Includes economy class flights from students’ home country to the host university at both the beginning and conclusion of the program.
  • Travel Allowance: Additionally, Scholars are granted a US $600 travel allowance for every journey.

Eligibility Criteria for World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

  • Applicants must be nationals of a developing country that is a member of the World Bank and should not hold dual citizenship with a developed nation.
  • Applicants should be in good health and possess a bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree obtained at least 3 years before the application deadline.
  • Applicants for this scholarship need to possess a minimum of 3 years of full-time, paid work experience related to development within the past 6 years, or part-time equivalent (with exceptions for Fragile and Conflict States).
  • Candidates must be fully admitted (except regarding funding) to a participating master’s program outside their country of citizenship and residence, with the admission letter included in the application.
  • Individuals cannot apply if they hold the position of Executive Director, alternate, or staff member within the World Bank Group or if they are closely related to any of these people.
  • Students who have previously rejected or failed to complete a JJ/WBGSP scholarship cannot reapply.
